Stamina and Steel verses Wood and Time

Their axes are worth upwards of $600 each. They are so sharp they can shave with them and they wield them with power and precision. They wear singlets for freedom of movement and chain mail socks for protection against misjudged contact. Ouch!

They make the woodchips fly. They are the axemen who compete in wood chop competition, one of the most traditional and fundamental events at country shows. You can see them in action at the Bellingen Show on Saturday 24th May when they will do battle in ten events during the afternoon. There's no other sport like it for thrill and chill and getting the heart pumping.
