Their axes are worth upwards of $600 each. They are so sharp they can shave with them and they wield them with power and precision. They wear singlets for freedom of movement and chain mail socks for protection against misjudged contact. Ouch!
the woodchips fly. They are the axemen who compete in wood chop competition, one
of the most traditional and fundamental events at country shows. You can see
them in action at the Bellingen Show on Saturday 24th May when they
will do battle in ten events during the afternoon. There's no other sport like
it for thrill and chill and getting the heart pumping.
